Filipino Child Actor Just Landed a Major Role in Disney’s Upcoming ‘A Wrinkle in Time’

Young Filipino actor Deric McCabe has landed a major role in a Disney film production which stars Hollywood heavyweights Zach Galifianakis, Reese Witherspoon, André Holland, Levi Miller, Mindy Kaling and Oprah Winfrey.
The 8-year-old will be playing the role of Charles Wallace in the film based on Jennifer Lee’s adaptation of the 1960’s multiple award winning science fantasy novel “A Wrinkle in Time” by author Madeleine L’Engle. Storm Reid will star as Charles’ sister Meg, the book’s main protagonist.
The fantasy film, which boasts a budget of over $100 million, also stars Gugu Mabatha-Raw and Chris Pine as Mr. & Mrs. Wallace, Deadline reported. The film, which revolves around the children’s unexpected journey into unknown dimensions in search of their father, begins shooting tomorrow under the direction of Ava Duvernay.
Since “A Wrinkle in Time” is just the first in L’Engle’s series of books, observers are now saying Deric has the chance to become the next Daniel Radcliffe if the movie turns into a multi-picture production.
McCabe was chosen from thousands of hopefuls after a rigorous casting audition which reportedly took over 7 months to finish.
According to the child actor’s IMDB profile, he is also set to star in the 2016 fantasy-horror film “Stephanie
and the 2017 drama “Hold On”.
