Elementary school students shower art teacher with goodbye hugs, drawings on his last day in viral TikTok

To celebrate a Filipino art teacher’s last day of work, an entire elementary school gathered to give him goodbye hugs and drawings.

TikTok user @itsjoshell posted a video on May 2 of her husband, known to his students as Mr. Santos, walking past various groups of students in his school’s hallways.

“My husband had his last day as an art teacher and this is how the entire school said goodbye,” the onscreen text reads at the start of the video.

The art teacher joins group hugs and receives a seemingly never-ending pile of artwork. Some of his students can even be seen shedding tears as they hug him goodbye.

Once Mr. Santos reaches the end of the last hallway, he bows to his students, who give him a final round of applause. “Mr. Santos OUT,” the video’s onscreen text says.

Several TikTok users commented that they teared up after watching the wholesome clip. Many of them also pointed out the positive impact that teachers can leave on young students.

“Teachers, especially great art/music teachers, are literal gifts from the heavens. They foster so many skills and creativity! He was so respected!” one user wrote.

“This made me tear up!!! This how you can see he made an impact to all those kids!! Love to see teachers make an impact to the small things in life!” another user commented.

The video has garnered over 105,000 likes and 534,000 views since it was first uploaded last week.
