A Filipina commuter who lost her phone in an Uber ride was delighted not only when the driver returned it, but because it came back with flowers and donuts!
The rider, who goes by @__cklucas on Twitter, shared the story of the kind Uber driver last week in Cainta, the Philippines.
“So I lost my phone, but thanks to this very kind Uber driver for returning it!!!”
She added, “I caused him hassle, but he still gave me flowers and donuts.”
She joked later, “I feel like crying. An Uber driver, after all, would give me flowers.”
Meanwhile, commenters teased that the driver may be courting her soon:
Rider @__cklucas is apparently lucky. As part of Uber’s policy, neither the company nor its drivers, who are independent contractors, are responsible for items left in a vehicle after a trip.
A rider who has left an item after a trip is encouraged to call the driver by submitting a contact number. If it’s the phone that was left, a friend’s number may be used as an alternative.
“Please be considerate that your driver’s personal schedule will be affected by taking time out to return your item to you,” Uber wrote. “We’re here to help, but cannot guarantee that a driver has your item or can immediately deliver it to you.”
