A talented 22-year-old figure skater from Queens, N.Y. recently dazzled a pleasantly surprised crowd at the 2018 U.S. Figure Skating Championship.
Jimmy Ma delivered an amazing performance accompanied by unlikely song selections: DJ Snake’s “Propaganda,” and DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s song, “Turn Down for What.”

An appreciative crowd reacted positively as his high-energy skating routine matched perfectly with the upbeat EDM tunes of his chosen tracks.
 
In an interview with USA Today Sports, Ma explained the unusual song choice.
“Figure skating is an extreme sport,” Ma was quoted as saying. “I want the most amount of people to see that it is both an awesome art form and also an awesome sport. The whole point was to get people hyped. Get older people hyped and for younger people to think it is cool.”

When footage of his performance eventually surfaced online, netizens were quick to shower him praises.

Skaters were only recently allowed to pick songs with lyrics for their routines and Ma is among those who used modern music to spice up their performance in the recently concluded event.
