Sometimes when you buy something, you still don’t actually own it, even if you do pay over $300,000 for it.
That’s what EDM artist Deadmau5 discovered during a row he had with Ferrari’s legal team over his customized Nyan cat themed 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider F1 Edition affectionately called the Purrari. Deadmau5 had previously raced the car in the Gumball 3000 from Miami to Ibiza, Spain.
Allegedly, Ferrari USA’s legal team asked Deadmau5 to remove the Nyan cat wrapping around the car, the custom floormats, as well as the Purrari badge. Of course, he vented about it over Twitter.
I wonder if the jackass lawyer at @FerrariUSA who sent us a “cease and desist” letter over the purrari is un-butthurt now that I unwrapped.

Yeah it was mostly about the custom floor matts and the custom purrari badges. Whatever. It’s just a normal ass 458 now. All good. — deadmau5 (@deadmau5) August 27, 2014
Deadmau5 had previously listed the Purrari for sale at $380,000 on Craigslist, which includes an iPod filled with Nyan cat music and the buyer will also be invited to Toronto for coffee with the artist.
So long Nyan cat.
