Creative Couple Takes Unique Engagement Photos That Movie Nerds Will Love
By Bryan Ke
Engagement photos can be quite boring at times (unless you have an amazing wedding photographer) — all the cheesy, often forced, smiles, awkward poses that ultimately all look the same in the end. This is why Jackie Nguyen and her fiance, Nate Huntley, decided to make theirs super unique.
With the help of their photographer friend Isaac James, the couple of four years from Queens, New York, spent the last year doing their own series of quirky engagement photos that will make many nerds cry with envy.
“Nate and I are huge nerds,” Nguyen said in an interview with HuffPost. “We are completely obsessed with the majority of couples we paid tribute to and have a genuine love for being a bit kooky. We’ve even tried to invite Macaulay Culkin to our wedding using our photos. Not sure if he’ll accept, but it’s worth a shot.”
What they tried to pull was not easy, especially for couples who are on a very tight budget. Luckily, their friends in the arts industry all pitched in with costumes to help Nguyen and Huntley, who are both actors, with their engagement photos.
Some of the duos that they pretended to be during their photo shoot include:
Doc Brown and Marty McFly from “Back to the Future”.
Legendary artist couple Yoko Ono and John Lennon of The Beatles.
Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Alan Grant from the hit dinosaur movie “Jurassic Park” – with a special appearance by their friend Sabrina Olivieri in dinosaur costume.
The Wet Bandits, Harry and Marv, from the classic Christmas movie “Home Alone” and “Home Alone 2”.
Agent Peggy Carter and Steve Rogers from “Captain America”.
Diane Nguyen and BoJack Horseman.
Thor and a Griffyndor wizard from “Harry Potter”.
Miranda Hillard and “Mrs. Doubtfire”.
Jack and Rose from the hit romantic movie “Titanic”.
Sally and Linus from “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”.
And lastly, Dwight Schrute and Michael Scott from the hit comedy series “The Office”.
The couple’s engagement photos are, hands down, incredible! Who knows what they might come up with on their big day, which will be held in Columbus, Ohio, in April. While speaking with HuffPost, Nguyen hinted out that it’s not going to be an ordinary wedding.
“We have the most outlandish and fun things planned for the wedding, some of which are surprises that we can’t reveal,” she explained. “What we can say is that it is a Chex Mix of Willy Wonka meets Christmas meets a magical carnival.”
Congratulations to the happy couple!
