New York police are looking for a man accused of verbally attacking an elderly bus rider with anti-Asian statements earlier this year.
The details: The incident occurred inside an M15 bus heading south at 2nd Avenue at East 68th Street just before 11:30 a.m. on April 23.
  • For no apparent reason, the suspect approached the 80-year-old victim and began yelling “F*ck you, Chinese!” and “Go back to China,” according to Upper East Site. Police said the two men had no prior interactions.
  • The victim reportedly got dropped off right after the incident. The suspect, on the other hand, got off the bus at an unknown stop, according to Patch.
  • Another anti-Asian incident occurred later on the same day. Yao Pan Ma, 61, was collecting cans along Third Avenue and East 125th Street around 8:20 p.m. when Jarrod Powell, 50, struck him from behind, knocked him on the ground and repeatedly kicked his head.
Suspect wanted: New York police said the suspect is wanted for aggravated harassment. While the incident happened months ago, it was only this week when surveillance images of the suspect were released.
  • Anyone with information regarding the attack is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). Tips may also be submitted through their website or as a direct message on their Twitter account.
