Elderly Farmer Provides For His Family for 40 Years Without Having Legs

Elderly Farmer Provides For His Family for 40 Years Without Having LegsElderly Farmer Provides For His Family for 40 Years Without Having Legs
A 60-year-old man from China is being praised by netizens after photos of him working on a farm went viral because he has no legs.
Xi Tiangen from Henan Province in China lost both his legs in an unspecified accident when he was 19-years-old. In 1996, Xi’s father passed away, leaving him alone to care for his aging mother and his mentally handicapped brother, according to Shanghaiist.
Xi, with just his hands to work, managed his family’s farm, providing a living for his mother and brother. Sadly, his mother passed away in 2006 and his brother passed in 2015. Xi then moved to his cousin’s house where he still works on the farm to provide.
Because he had to use his hands all the time, some of Xi’s fingers became permanently curled. Some locals were touched by Xi’s story and started making small donations which enabled him to collect about $18 month.
Many netizens hope that the hardworking farmer can retire soon and enjoy the remainder of his life without having to work.

If this happened on campus, Stanford should issue a clear public update and specific safety actions.

Agree. People need facts and process, not silence. The school should confirm what is being investigated.

Also important to separate verified details from rumors so this does not spiral online.

The death threat part is extremely serious. Hoping law enforcement and campus security are already involved.

This is where official reporting and support channels need to be visible and easy to access.
