Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, returned to his childhood 7-Eleven in Hawaii to “right his wrongs” decades later.
In an Instagram post, the American actor claimed that he used to steal a Snickers candy bar every day for almost a year when he was 14 years old.
He explained that his family was “broke as hell” when he would swipe a king-sized Snickers bar for his daily pre-workout. The actor claimed that the store clerk never busted him as a teenager.
To atone for his childhood sins, Johnson visited the 7-Eleven he used to steal from and bought all of the Snickers bars in the store.
“I finally exorcized this damn chocolate demon that’s been gnawing at me for decades. We were evicted from Hawaii in ‘87 and after all these years – I finally got back home to right this wrong,” Johnson wrote in his post
“I’ve exercised a few big demons over the years (I still have a few left;) so I know this one seems very silly, but every time I come back home to Hawaii and drive by 7-11…I always knew I needed to go in and clean out every Snickers bar they had – the right way,” he added.
As a bonus, the actor also paid for all the items of the customers who were in the store at the time, racking up a $298 bill.
In the Instagram video, the store clerk can be seen ringing up a large paper bag full of Snickers. Johnson leaves the chocolate bars on the counter and tips the clerk, telling him to give the Snickers to customers who look like they are going to steal one.
“We can’t change the past and some of the dumb stuff we may have done, but every once in a while we can add a little redeeming grace note to that situation — and maybe put a big smile on some stranger’s faces,” Johnson wrote.
