An interesting development on
The upcoming remake will not only feature music but also will see the return of Mushu, a beloved character from the animated classic, according to DisInsider.
Citing a source working on the project, the report hints at a change from an earlier claim by director Niki Caro that the live-action remake would not feature any music.
Fans who have been following news about “Mulan” expressed concern about the changes Disney would be incorporating into the new film.
Deviating from the original plot, the upcoming film is set to introduce a new villain, a new love interest and a new mentor to be played by Donnie Yen.
Based on the new reports, “Mulan” will at least feature some of the classic songs and bring back Mushu, the spirit dragon of the Fa family.
It was not revealed, however, which of the memorable songs will be included in Caro’s remake.
Notable songs from the original include “Reflection,” “Honor to Us All,” “I’ll Make a Man Out of You,” and “A Girl With Fighting For.”
Mushu’s inclusion is also still shrouded in mystery as it was not revealed how he will be portrayed in the film. In the original, it was Mushu (voiced by Eddie Murphy) who accompanied Mulan on her adventure.
Mulan, which stars  Liu Yifei as Hua Mulan, features an all-Asian cast including Utkarsh Ambudkar, Yoson An, Rosalind Cheng Pei-Pei, Chum Ehelepola, Jason Scott Lee, Nelson Lee, Gong Li, Jet Li, Tzi Ma, Donnie Yen and Ron Yuan.
While there is still no news of Li-Shang making his return, fans can now look forward to revisiting the classic songs when the film hits theaters in March 2020.
