Crying Can Help You Lose Weight, Especially Between 7 and 10 P.M., Study Says

Crying not only alleviates emotional distress, but supposedly can also help you shed some weight as well.

A study found that a specific kind of tear that we cry, can help aid in weight loss. According to Dr. Aaron Neufeld of Los Altos Optometric Group, there are three types of tears known as Basal, Reflex, and Psychic tears.

While basal tears keep our eyes moist and reflex tears are a result of irritation, psychic tears are the ones we shed from feelings and emotional distress.

Psychic tears that we cry from emotions help promote weight loss because it reduces cortisol levels, a stress hormone linked to belly fat, according to The Sun.

This reinforces the much older studies of biochemist William Frey who reported that crying can help remove toxic substances in the body that build up from stress. Therefore the act of crying can also be an act of cleansing.

It is also advised that one should cry from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., because this is the peak time to optimize the cortisone releasing effect, said Women’s Health.

I guess it’s a good time to pick up some tissues and watch some k-dramas this evening.
