Psychic tears that we cry from emotions help promote weight loss because it reduces cortisol levels, a stress hormone linked to belly fat, according to The Sun.
This reinforces the much older studies of biochemist William Frey who reported that crying can help remove toxic substances in the body that build up from stress. Therefore the act of crying can also be an act of cleansing.
It is also advised that one should cry from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., because this is the peak time to optimize the cortisone releasing effect, said Women’s Health.
