You Can Rent an ‘Elf on a Shelf’ on Craigslist To Creep Out Your Friends For $100/hr

Looking for something creepy to freak out guests at your holiday dinner?

Posted on Boston Craigslist this week, the ad offered for the amount says: “I will come to your holiday party dressed as the Elf on the Shelf and sit in any location you assign me while I stare emptily at your guests for the duration of the event.” He also creepily adds private investigation and babysitting in his repertoire of services offered.

The Huffington Post identified the man as 28-year old Jesse Brower who revealed in the interview with the website that he did not expect to become an Internet sensation.

“My services have been in high demand this season, so I now require at least 48 hours notice in advance of any bookings and appreciate your understanding,” said the ad that attracted massive attention of the Internet, making the post and the ‘Elf’ popular.

What started as a joke turned out to be a profitable venture for Bower when, after trending in Reddit, requests for his services started to pour in. “I was thinking about how funny it would be to hire a really creepy guy to sit around … to just weird everyone out,” told Brower to the Huff Post. He also clarified that the photo in the ad is not actually him.

While he didn’t tell what his future plans are, we can bet it will involve lots of money for just sitting and staring into space for hours. Cool gig Mr. Elf!
