Netflix releases side-by-side comparison of new live-action ‘Cowboy Bebop’ opening and the original anime intro

Netflix released the opening sequence for its “Cowboy Bebop” live-action series, and it is a fast-paced homage to the cult-classic original.

Let’s Jam: Over the weekend, the Netflix remake of the critically acclaimed space Western anime featured the cast — John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black and Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine — guns blazing over the booming soundtrack of the jazzy and iconic theme song “Tank!” by Yoko Kanno.

The original anime series, created by Shinichirō Watanabe, was first released in 1998 and became an instant hit overseas when it appeared on Adult Swim in 2001, according to Variety.
For fans of the show, “Cowboy Bebop” went hand-in-hand with “Tank!” Showrunner André Nemec told Polygon that there could be no show without Kanno. He spoke highly of her upcoming new soundtrack.
“Anybody who loves the music from ‘Cowboy Bebop’ is going to love beyond what Yoko has done for us on this show,” he said. “I will hear music pieces come in, we will talk about character and theme, and then when I get those pieces there have been more times than I can remember that I hear something and I’m like…a smile comes to my face.”

In August, Netflix released its first-look teaser photos of the main starring trio and a second set of just Cho.
The streaming platform’s supplementary YouTube channel Still Watching Netflix also dropped a comparison video of the new opening sequence with its predecessor.

The Netflix remake will be released on Nov. 19 and will run for 10 episodes.
