In the mighty name of love, a couple in China managed to run a distance of 4,700 kilometers across the country in 150 days, even adopting a dog along the way.
Yiyi, 23, and Beiqiao, 22, became a couple soon after meeting at a running event last year.
Yiyi, who planned the 4,700-km adventure, called it the “Run for Love.” They kicked off from a point near the city’s West Lake on April 14.
“I love the romantic story ‘The Legend of the White Snake’, the story also starts at West Lake. Few people had high hopes for our journey but we still wanted to try it,” she told reporters (via CGTN).
From there, the couple took 150 days to reach the square of Potala Palace in Lhasa — a distance of about 112 marathons.
They cooked their own meals and camped by the roadside.
In addition, Yiyi had to shave her head for convenience, according to local reports.
Interestingly, they adopted a dog along the way, which Yiyi named “Mala.” This name roughly translates to “marathon” in Putonghua, the South China Morning Post said.
At that point, Beiqiao felt that their relationship became much stronger:
“We put ourselves in an extreme environment. After we walked together on the road, climbed mountains, got drenched by the rain and basked in the sun, I don’t think anything will easily separate us.”
