Former child reality star Collin Gosselin, one of the eight siblings featured in the TLC reality show “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” has revealed that he has not spoken with most of his brothers and sisters for years.
From 2007 to 2009, Collin starred on the show along with his parents, Jon and Kate Gosselin, and his seven siblings: Hannah, Alexis, Joel, Leah, Aaden and twins Cara and Madelyn. The show’s title was changed to “Kate Plus 8” after Jon and Kate’s divorce in 2009 and continued airing until 2017.
In a recent interview with “Entertainment Tonight, the 18-year-old revealed that he thinks the show destroyed his family.
“I want to believe it was because of TV and what being in the public eye does to a family,” he told “Entertainment Tonight” host Kevin Frazier. “I think it tore us apart.”
Aside from Hannah, Collin shared that he no longer has a relationship with his mother nor most of his siblings, saying, “I have not spoken to my siblings in probably five or six years now. It’s tough.”
“I love them to death,” Collin said as he broke down in tears. “I love them very much and I really hope that one day when I have kids, that my kids will know their aunts and uncles.”
According to Collin, his relationship with his mother ended in 2016 after he was institutionalized at the age of 12. At the time, Kate said the reason for Collin’s admission was due to “special needs.”
“It’s unfortunate that we didn’t have a relationship,” Collin said about his 47-year-old mother. “I think every son wants to have a relationship with their mom.”
Collin shared that after he left the institution, he and his sister Hannah went to live with Jon, who was granted temporary full custody in 2018.
Speaking about Hannah, Collin said he “would do anything” for her as he considers her to be his “emotional support.”
Collin, who plans to enlist in the Marine Corps, said he hopes to have a meal with his family members one day and “catch up on… the time that [they] lost,” noting that they used to be “so close.”
