Tamlyn Tomita and Yuji Okumoto will return to reprise their roles as Kumiko and Chozen Toguchi, respectively, in Netflix’s “Cobra Kai” season 3, the show’s producers confirmed.
Tomita and Okumoto will join Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence, Martin Kove as John Kreese and other new cast members as students, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Tomita told EW earlier this month that she wondered what her character would be up to today and thinks she might be doing something related to her passion in “The Karate Kid II” (1986).
“It was always related to dance, and maybe she fell in love and had kids,” the 54-year-old actress said. “There’s all kinds of permutations as to what would have happened to her.”

Tomita believes many questions will be answered when Kumiko and Daniel reunite in the third season of “Cobra Kai” after the latter travels to Okinawa, Japan and crosses paths with her.
“I think it’ll answer a lot of questions, and fans will be happy as to where [the characters] find themselves and the kind of discussions they have,” she said. “I think fans will be pleased. I just hope with all the hope in my heart that we all did a good job.”

Okumoto revealed in a Facebook video on Dec. 9 that he will reprise his role from the ’80s movie, The Rafu Shimpo reported.
“Today is the day when I can finally stop denying. I had to keep this under wraps until now. Enjoy the trailer. [As Chozen] I know you like it,” the 61-year-old actor said.

Daniel fell in love with Kumiko in “The Karate Kid II.” But in the third installment, it was revealed that Daniel urged Kumiko to stay in Japan to continue her dream job as a ballet dancer, Screenrant reported.
“Cobra Kai” season 3 will bring Macchio and Tomita together onscreen once again since the movie was released 36 years ago.
“Cobra Kai” will return to Netflix on Jan. 8, 2021.
