Hong Kong film legend Chow Yun Fat, 68, proved age is just a number after completing his first 13-mile race in just two and a half hours.
Shattering expectations: Chow displayed unparalleled determination as he finished his debut half-marathon at the inaugural Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Half Marathon on Nov. 19.
Clocking an impressive 2 hours, 27 minutes and 56 seconds, the veteran actor defied conventional expectations, finishing well within the average time for men in their prime. He surpassed his own milestones, previously completing a 6.2-mile race in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon earlier this year in just 1 hour, 3 minutes and 58 seconds.

Suave finish: Clad in his familiar all-black sports attire, Chow crossed the finishing line with style, waving to the cheering crowd. After the race, he expressed his satisfaction with the run and affirmed his intent to participate again next year. However, he dismissed the idea of attempting a full marathon, citing his physical limits, saying, “Two and a half hours is already my limit.”
Fitness regimen: The actor, who regularly participates in hiking and various races, shared that his preparation routine for the marathon included a daily jogging regimen covering 2.5 to 3 miles. While he emphasized his commitment to staying fit and healthy, he also humorously remarked that greeting fellow runners was more tiring than the race itself.
About the run: According to organizers, 8,000 runners participated in the half-marathon. Kenya’s Geoffrey Toroitich and Uganda’s Sarah Chelangat clinched victories in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, earning $10,000 each in prize money.
