A woman in eastern China caused a public scare after leaping onto a railway track to scare her boyfriend in an ongoing fight.
The woman, identified by the name Wang, jumped onto the tracks seconds before a train arrived at Nanjing South Railway Station on Nov. 12.

In surveillance footage, the 33-year-old woman is seen running away from the platform and recklessly leaping onto the tracks.
Fortunately, passersby managed to pull her moments before a train — which also stopped upon seeing her — arrived.
Speaking to authorities, Wang explained that she jumped onto the tracks to scare her boyfriend because they had been fighting.
“I did it as a joke, I’m sorry,” she told an officer, who then replied, “A joke? It’s not funny at all.”
Wang, who was punished under administrative law, told officers that she regrets her actions.
“Someone pulled me up right after I jumped,” Wang said. “I turned back and saw the train passing by my feet. I was so scared and my mind went blank.”
Wang was fined 200 yuan ($30) for interrupting the Xuzhou-bound train and causing public disorder, Beijing News reported. A police officer also said that because of her actions, her social credit score may be damaged.
The footage quickly went viral on Chinese social media, with many criticizing Wang’s “childish tantrum.” It’s unclear if the dispute between her boyfriend had been resolved.
Weibo users commented:
“The boyfriend should break up. This is dead goods.”
“Why are you still pulling her?”
“If I her boyfriend, I will break up with her immediately. She’s sick.”
“This one should be detained.”
“She should be sent to prison for three to five years. Let’s see if she gets fun there.”
