An elderly woman grabbed the wheel of a public bus and crashed it after she was told she couldn’t get change for her fare payment.
After boarding the No. 14 bus in the Songjiang District earlier this week, the woman placed a 20 yuan note ($3) in the bus’s fare box. She then asked the bus driver for change since her bill was over the fare cost.
The bus driver, identified as Zhou Wei, told the woman that he was unable to provide riders change and suggested that she get her change at the bus depot, reports China News (via Shanghaiist).
CCTV footage shows the woman then trying to wrest control of the bus wheel away from the driver, causing the bus to crash into the side of the road.
No passengers were reported to be seriously injured and police have charged her with public endangerment.
