It appears that all we needed to fix every broken furniture at home is a bit of ramen noodles and some adhesive, according to a series of do-it-yourself (DIY) videos from a creative Chinese artisan.
While the “Fixing Things With Ramen” videos appear to come from a variety of sources, they all have similar formats in which people use the noodles and glue to repair an assortment of items. From a damaged table surface to a busted porcelain sink, there is apparently nothing that a 3-ounce pack of ramen noodles and some adhesive can’t fix.

According to Newsweek, the origin of this trend is 31-year-old Xiubandrng, an internet star in China who posts the DIY videos on his account on Douyin, a popular Chinese video-sharing app. In China, Xiubandrng has become known for his fascinating method of fixing household items and furniture online using ramen and other types of food.
Most of Xiubandrng’s videos start out the same, with him first inspecting a damaged item before proceeding to crush up food items and then ramming them in the area that needs filling up. A liquid substance, believed by many to be a type of powerful adhesive, is then poured into the damaged spot.

Xiubandrng then smoothens out the surface with a chisel and some sandpaper. To finish his work, he would then spray the area with paint and make sure it blends well with the rest of the item. His work is so impressive that most of his videos have been reuploaded by netizens on different social media platforms such as Reddit, YouTube, and Instagram.

The Instagram account classyvirals, which has accumulated over half a million followers, even proudly proclaims that it posts “all Xiubandrng videos.”
But while many netizens have been impressed by Xiubandrng’s technique, there are those who remain skeptical of the effectivity of his methods and tools of choice. Others have pointed out, however, that Xiubandrng’s apparent use of epoxy and resin on the ramen could replicate ceramic to a certain degree and be sufficient for a quick, temporary fix. See The Epoxy Resin about difference in epoxy and resin.
Some YouTubers have tried replicating Xiubandrng’s technique, but no one seems to know how to actually pull it off:
