Chinese Internet Companies Are Reportedly Hiring ‘Cheerleaders’ to Motivate Workers

If your work environment’s got you down, you might need some cheerleaders — and not necessarily in the form of a more encouraging boss.
According to’s Trending In China, internet companies “across China” are hiring attractive young women as “programming cheerleaders” in order to create more fun at work for their employees.
The cheerleaders reportedly will buy a company’s programmers breakfast, converse with them and engage in games of ping-pong with them.
An HR manager of an internet company cited by Trending’s editors said that his company hired the girls because its programmers are mostly socially awkward males whose job efficiency and motivation increases in the presence of the cheerleaders.
