Chinese social media users are divided after a Chinese influencer apologized for attacking a man during a water splashing festival at a resort in Shaanxi province over a week ago.
What happened: The incident occurred at a water splashing event organized by singing influencer Musen, who reportedly has over 6 million followers on Douyin, at the Bailucang tourist resort in Shaanxi on July 22, local media reported.
About the video: A video circulating on Chinese social media shows fellow influencer Zheng Kuaile, who has over 300,000 followers on Douyin and claims to be Musen’s protégé, aggressively confronting a man before pushing, slapping and kicking him.
What caused it: According to reports, the man threw water at Zheng, who was not carrying a water gun nor participating in the event, which resulted in her becoming infuriated towards the man.
Despite her reaction, the man can be seen showing restraint against her assault.

The aftermath: Musen later explained Zheng’s behavior by reportedly stating that the influencer was “on her period.” Zheng eventually apologized after the event in a video, saying she “let her fans down.”
What people are saying: Comments on Chinese social media seemed to be divided on Zheng’s action, with one user criticizing the influencer for assaulting another person, writing, “She should not have hit anyone. Actually, the man showed admirable restraint.”
Meanwhile, another user reportedly supported Zheng’s actions, explaining, “Some men splash women on purpose just because they were good-looking, even if they were only passing by and not taking part in the game.”
