Chinese Boy Jumps Off 10-Story Building Using an Umbrella as a Parachute, Miraculously Survives

A 7-year-old boy from Suzhou, in southeastern Jiangsu Province of East China, survived a 10-story jump using an umbrella as a parachute trying to copy a cartoon he had seen.
However, it was not the red umbrella that saved his life, but a power line that caught it on the way down, according to Shanghaiist.
The child underwent extensive surgery after sustaining serious injuries from the fall, but doctors said that his injuries are no longer a life-threatening condition.
The boy and his family lived on the 5th floor of the apartment building made of penthouse duplexes, making his fall equivalent to a 10-story drop.
Video captured by a witness shows his mother fainting at the scene when she saw her son lying on the ground injured, according to South China Morning Post.
This is not the first case in China where a child was hurt while imitating a cartoon.
A similar incident occurred in Urumqi in Xinjiang in March, when a 5-year-old girl also used an umbrella, but this time jumping from the 11th floor.
She reportedly landed on a balcony on the fourth floor and was rushed to the hospital.
