Many Chinese netizens are paying their respect to a 50-year-old traffic cop from Jingshan county in central China’s Hubei province after he sacrificed his own life to save pedestrians from a driver who purposefully drove his car onto a busy sidewalk.
The compilation video shot by pedestrians from the sidewalk and the surveillance camera shows the driver going up and down the busy street of Chengzhong Road in Xinshi Town before plowing the sidewalk filled with people on Monday evening, April 30, Shine reported.

The 28-year-old driver, identified only by his surname Tang, had killed two pedestrians and injured four others, according to The Paper, as translated by Shanghaiist.
Liu Guibin, the traffic cop, heroically saved one pedestrian from certain death by shoving them out of the car’s path, sacrificing his own life in the process. His last words before getting hit and killed by the rampaging driver were: “get out of the way!”
Tang was eventually captured by the police after the chaos came to an end when he crashed on the side of the road. It was unclear what prompted him to start causing havoc and killing people on the sidewalk, considering that police confirmed he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he committed the crime.
