Chinese Sports Brand is Literally an Exact Copy of Under Armour
A Chinese company has debuted a new sports clothing brand that closely resembles Under Armour.
The brand, Uncle Martian, was unveiled this week. Images circulating on social media of the launch show a strikingly similar logo to that of the American sports brand.
The new sports brand was launched by Tingfei Long Sporting Goods Co., a 25-year-old shoe manufacturer based in southern China’s Fujian province.
The general manager of Tingfei Long, Huang Canlong, stated in an interview with a local paper a week before the launch that the company wants to have a share of the branded shoe market in China. Uncle Martian hopes to be a competitor to U.S. brand names like New Balance and Under Armour, which are popular in China.
High-end sportswear has become a growing trend in Chinese fashion. The Baltimore-based Under Armour launched their Curry Two basketball shoe model in Beijing last year with spokesman NBA star Stephen Curry in tow.
