DC Universe has cast transgender activist Chella Man for the second season of its live-action series “Titans.”
Man will play the role of Joseph Wilson, also known as Jericho, a Titan capable of possessing anyone through eye contact.

Man is a “deaf, genderqueer, Chinese and Jewish” model and student at New York University. He is also an artist, speaker and writer who tackles gender, race and disability on various platforms.
The 20-year-old began to share his journey with gender dysphoria and gender transition on YouTube in May 2017. As of this writing, he has 215,000 followers on his channel and 256,000 more on Instagram.
“It is UNREAL to announce I will be making my acting debut as Jericho on Season 2 ‘Titans!’” Man wrote in a tweet. “As a trans, deaf, Jewish POC, I have always reminded myself of the power in my differences.” “It’s a dream come true as I will now be able to showcase this power on ‘Titans.’”

“Titans,” which wrapped up its first season in December, is expected to return with Jericho later this year.
The official description of the character reads (via Deadline): “Son of the infamous DC villain Deathstroke (played by Esai Morales), Joseph Wilson is the Titan known as Jericho. Mute after his father failed to rescue him from having his vocal cords severed by assassins, Jericho has the unique ability to possess anyone just by making eye contact. This gentle natured yet proud hero has proven himself a formidable Titan.”
Man, who was born with progressive hearing loss and uses cochlear implants to hear, described Jericho further in a follow-up tweet.
“In the comics, the character has always used sign language, as his vocal cords severed by assassins. Jericho’s mysterious powers are activated by his gaze — if he locks eyes with people he can control their bodies.”
