A 2-year-old girl, identified as Chastity Yulia Vang, who was shot in the head in her Saint Paul, Minnesota backyard on Monday remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Chastity’s 23-year-old father, Shawn Vang, and a 27-year-old relative, Lee Lor, were also hurt but suffered non-life threatening injuries in the shooting, which occurred shortly after midnight.
Vang was heard shouting, “That’s my baby!” while another neighbor applied pressure to the girl’s head wound.
The two men were released from the hospital later Monday, according to the Pioneer Press.
No arrests have been made in the incident, but a police spokesman said that investigators believe it is not “entirely random” and they think “there is some kind of connection between the shooter or shooters and at least one of the victims.”

Steve Linders, a St. Paul police spokesman, called gun violence “insidious”.
“It rips at the fabric that holds St. Paul together and it doesn’t just affect the people that are struck,” he said Monday. “A bullet goes through the air and it hits a person and a family’s life is devastated, children no longer feel safe in their neighborhoods, entire parts of town feel fear, and our officers are put in incredible danger when they respond to these types of calls. … Our cops are out there, they’re working hard, but they can’t do it alone, so we’re asking people to step forward.”
More than $5,000 has been raised for Chastity’s medical bills via a Go Fund Me page that her aunt, Mai Thao, created.
Thao said on Tuesday that she has no clue why the shooting occurred.
“We don’t have problems with anybody,” she said.
