Casio and Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. have released a collaboration timepiece based on the original 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System game.
The watch, which is part of Casio’s G-Shock lineup, comes with a distinctive shade of red for its bezel, as well as light blue and gold accents reminiscent of the daytime sky and coins in the game.
The watch’s band features a pixelated image of Mario function indicators that come in the game’s iconic typeface.
The timepiece can be purchased from Casio Japan’s online store for 17,600 yen or $150 USD.
Super Mario fans can now get their hands on a Casio timepiece that encapsulates memories of the original game.
The collaboration piece — part of the Japanese watchmaker’s G-Shock lineup — features a distinctive shade of red for its bezel, along with a pixelated Mario reminiscent of his 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) iteration.
Meanwhile, light blue and gold accents on the face are reminiscent of the daytime sky and coins from the game.
Likewise, the typeface of the function indicators is the same font used in the Nintendo classic.
The G-Shock watch is a sharp contrast to Tag Heuer’s 2021 Super Mario smartwatch, which featured the beloved Nintendo character in his modern, 3D appearance. That limited-edition watch has since sold out.
Turning the G-Shock watch’s light on shows Mario jumping on top of a Koopa Troopa shell and hitting infinite 1-UPs.
As of this writing, the watch can be purchased from Casio Japan’s online store. For $150 USD, the timepiece comes in a dedicated box and canister case.
