BTS Becomes First All-Asian Group on Rolling Stone With ‘Future of Music’ Issue

South Korean supergroup BTS just became the first all-Asian act to appear on the front cover of pop culture magazine Rolling Stone.

Iconic cover: The Bangtan Boys will be gracing the cover of its “The Future of Music” June issue, the magazine announced on Thursday. “Attention ARMY: after years of asking for it, BTS have finally landed on the cover of Rolling Stone,” the post noted. 
  • The magazine described its new release as “groundbreaking,” adding, “BTS is the first all-Asian act to appear on the cover of the magazine in its 54-year history, further proving the power and influence of the group”
  • The cover story, titled “The Triumph of BTS,” features the group’s first official interview in 2021 to promote their upcoming single, “Butter.”
  • The article interview tackles how members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook assembled in 2013 and grew to become the “biggest band in the world.” 
  • Touching on what the group sees as an “outdated” concept on labels of masculinity, BTS leader RM said, “It is not our intention to break it down. But if we are making a positive impact, we are very thankful.”

Limited edition: The issue comes with a $150 limited collector’s edition box set that will feature eight collectible BTS covers: the newsstand cover with all members, and seven individual covers featuring each member in solo poses. 
  • Renowned photographer Hong Jang Hyun put together the photoshoot for the issue last month in South Korea. 
  • For the shoot, BTS wore outfits by Louis Vuitton, the popular luxury label that the group became house ambassadors for in April.
