K-pop superstar group BTS score 3 American Music Awards nominations, including artist of the year

    The American Music Awards have unveiled the nomination list for 2021, and superstar K-pop group BTS is featured in multiple categories.

    Nominations: On Oct. 28,  BTS was nominated for three categories at the American Music Awards (AMAs), reported Soompi.

    • BTS is nominated for artist of the year for the first time, and will be up against Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo and The Weeknd.
    • For the third successive year, the band is also nominated for the favorite pop duo or group award, along with AJR, Glass Animals, Maroon 5 and Silk Sonic.
    • Their hit song “Butter,” which topped Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for weeks, was nominated for favorite pop song.
    • The nominees are based on fan interactions that include streaming, album sales, song sales and radio airplay in the time period between Sept. 25, 2020 and Sept. 23, 2021.

    The awards are set to take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and will air live on ABC on Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. PT.
