BTS’ Jimin becomes first S. Korean solo artist to top Billboard Hot 100

BTS’ Jimin
Sharing the news with his Instagram followers, Jimin uploaded a photo of the Billboard chart with the description “Love u all” with a purple heart emoji.
Fellow band members RM and J-Hope also shared congratulatory messages on their Instagram stories, with RM writing “I’m proud” and J-Hope sharing “this is history.”
Released on March 24, the song’s placement on the Hot 100 was due to Jimin’s high “FACE” album sales, Billboard reports.
Five physical editions were released alongside the digital album. Approximately 79% of “FACE’s” first-week sales were physical CDs and the remaining 21% were digital.
In addition to the Hot 100 debut, “FACE” notched second on the Billboard 200 charts, making Jimin the second artist to have a debut album place as high after Olivia Rodrigo’s album “Sour.”
Jimin is the third solo BTS member — preceded by RM’s “Indigo” and J-Hope’s “Jack in the Box” — to have an album enter the Billboard 200.
BTS fans, who are known as ARMY, were quick to celebrate the feat on social media, causing Jimin’s name to trend on Twitter.
