BTS Shatters YouTube Record With ‘Boy With Luv’ MV Feat. Halsey
K-Pop powerhouse BTS just made history yet again with their comeback song “Boy With Luv” featuring American pop singer Halsey.
According to the platform, the song’s music video raked in 78 million views within its first 24 hours, beating the previous record of 56.7 million set by fellow K-Pop act BlackPink with “Kill This Love” just a week ago.
“Yes, we’re still running the numbers, but we can confirm that #BoyWithLuv (ft. @Halsey) is now *officially* the most-viewed 24 hour debut in @YouTube history!” YouTube Music announced in a tweet.
The platform also mentioned the group’s appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” where they also made history as the first-ever K-Pop band to be a guest.
“Boy With Luv” is the lead track of BTS’s new album, “Map of the Soul: Persona,” which apparently marks the beginning of a new era after the highly-successful “Love Yourself.”
The song is also a reference to the group’s 2014 hit “Boy In Luv,” which has seen an increase in views — many from nostalgic fans — following its release.
“Boy With Luv” received so much traffic in its first 24 hours that YouTube’s systems barely kept up.
“When views are really high, the public view count that you see doesn’t often keep up with our backend systems,” the platform said in another tweet. “As a result, the public view count may adjust at a later time once the two catch up with each other.”
@bts_bighit@halsey We cannot get over Boy With Luv 💜 so many fans viewing your video, you nearly broke the YouTube view counter! You may see views “freeze” or fluctuate while our systems work through it, more details on how this works here: https://t.co/x3N7d60zpA
