BTS Fans Storm Out of Jingle Ball After Katy Perry Jokes About Them ‘Staying Past Their Bedtime’
By Ryan General
BTS was among the performers during KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball 2019 at The Forum in Los Angeles on December 6 and members of the ARMY came in droves.
The South Korean supergroup opened the star-studded show which featured Katy Perry, Sam Smith, Halsey, French Montana, Camila Cabello, Billie Eilish, Normani and Lizzo.
BTS opened the show with “Mic Drop” and expressed elation to be a part of the event.
“We are the opening artist! Such an honor to perform here,” BTS told the crowd after performing their first song. “We are on the same stage with legends — this is the best holiday ever!”
Following BTS’ performance came Billie Eilish. Katy Perry then apparently angered the boy band’s fans after taking the stage when she hinted that they were young children.
The singer said in jest that the ARMYs should be happy because “most of you get to stay up late past your bedtime.”
As shown in videos that emerged online, many BTS fans left the building immediately after she told the joke.
Some fans reportedly stayed but remained silent during her performance.
BTS fans who took to social media to criticize Perry for her comments noted that it was ignorant of her to say so as they are a diverse group, coming from all ages and all different backgrounds.

The original version of this post has been edited to correctly report that Billie Eilish performed right after BTS, not Katy Perry.
