BTS snagged three Billboard Music Awards last night, bringing their total count up to a historic 12.
With 12 wins, BTS has broken the American girl group Destiny’s Child’s record for most Billboard Music Awards for a group. Destiny’s Child has 11, a record the trio held for 17 years.
The Hybe label boy group was up for seven awards in six categories, another record in itself for the group as their highest number of nominations for the awards and the highest number of nominations for any duo or group. They were nominated for Top Duo/Group (won), Top Song Sales Artist (won), Top Selling Song for “Butter” and “Permission to Dance” (won for “Butter”), Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Song for “Butter,” Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Artist and Top Rock Song for their Coldplay collaboration track “My Universe.”

Their wins for Top Duo/Group is their third-time win in that category following their 2019 and 2021 wins. They also won Top Song Sales Artist last year.
BTS was not in attendance for the awards, and their wins were announced ahead of the award show held in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena because they are working on their upcoming album following their in-person Vegas concerts. The group continues to make milestones ahead of a possible looming military enlistment.
Other Asian artists that won at the awards this year include Olivia Rodrigo with seven wins, including in categories like Top New Artist and Top Female Artist, Bruno Mars for Top R&B Tour for “Bruno Mars at Park MGM” and Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak) for Top R&B Song for “Leave The Door Open.”
