Fans of K-pop supergroup BTS was the top fandom community on Instagram in 2018, according to a recent press release from the image-sharing platform.
Known to be among the most active fandoms online, the “BTS Army” showcased their devotion and loyalty to their beloved boy band on the site, Vogue reports.
It was a huge year for the K-pop group. They recently developed a successful collaboration with Nicki Minaj, addressed the United Nations, and, as of Thursday, remained at the top of the Billboard Social 50 chart for 104 weeks.

They also received a nomination at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards for their third Korean studio album, “Love Yourself: Tear.”

While the site did not reveal the data on the most-followed accounts in 2018 like in previous years, the top trends on the platform were not much of a surprise.
Aside from BTS and their fandom, the only other celebrity to make it to one of the top results for Instagram this year was Drake, although it was mainly due to the #InMyFeelingsChallenge trend that went viral.
Instagram also revealed that its top advocacy hashtags were #MeToo, #MarchForOurLives, and #TimesUp.
Meanwhile, ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) was named the top niche community trend on the site.
Disneyland Tokyo was also named the “happiest geotagged location in the world,” which simply meant they received the highest use of the 🙂smiley emoji in Instagram users’ captions.
