Bruno Mars Becomes First Artist With Diamond Certification for 5 Singles

Grammy award-winning star Bruno Mars has become the first artist to have five singles granted diamond certification by the Recording Industry Association Of America (RIAA).
Extraordinary feat: The RIAA announced the achievement on Saturday via a press release and a tweet that congratulated the 35-year-old singer-songwriter.
- Mars brought his total certifications to five after “That’s What I Like” reached 10 million certification units (streams and sales) and “When I Was Your Man” reached 11 million.
- Earlier, Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” reached 12 times multi-platinum (12 million certification units), “Uptown Funk!” achieved 11 times multi-platinum and “Grenade” had 10 times multi-platinum.
- RIAA chairman and CEO Mitch Glazier congratulated the star on his “extraordinary” achievement.
- “Fewer than 60 Diamond Single Awards have ever been awarded — and Bruno now has five of them!” Glazier said.
- Mars celebrated the achievement with a tweet to his fans, thanking them for their support.
Silk Sonic’s first hit: “Leave the Door Open,” a single released by Mars’ collaboration with Anderson .Paak under their duo Silk Sonic, has stayed at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart for its second week.
- “Leave the Door Open” is Mars’ eighth Hot 100 No. 1 and Anderson. Paak’s first.
