Brother of Popular Pro-Gamer ‘Doublelift’ Accused of Murdering Mother

Pro Gamer Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng of Team Liquid AD took to Twitter to express grief over the death of his mother and the injury of his father, allegedly at the hands of his older brother Yihong Peng.
“This weekend I received some terrible news,” Doublelift wrote to his followers on Sunday. “My older brother attacked both of my parents with a knife. As a result of this attack, my mom passed away and my dad was seriously hurt and is now recovering in hospital.”
“I’m still processing this news and joining up with my dad and little brother to make sure they’re ok and the proper arrangements are being made. I’ll likely be quiet on social media while I work through this. I hope you all understand and support me as you always have in the past.”
The gamer’s 30-year-old brother was arrested on Saturday in Orange County, California and charged with murder, ESPN reports. He is currently being detained at the Orange County Jail on a $1 million bail.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, a neighbor called the authorities around 10:30 p.m. on Friday after seeing Yihong Peng on the street with a knife. When Orange County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the family’s home in San Juan Capistrano, they found Peng’s 59-year-old mother, Wei Ping Shen, with a fatal stab wound. The suspect’s father, Guojon Peng, also 59, was critically injured but is expected to survive after he was rushed to a local hospital.

“Deputies arrived to the scene within one minute and located two victims, both with stab wounds, and observed the suspect attempting to flee the scene,” according to the official statement from the Sheriff’s office.
“Following a short pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody without incident. A knife was recovered at the scene.”
Neighbor Susan Larsen told NBC Los Angeles that Peng had just broken up with his long-term girlfriend, so his parents visited him in his home to comfort him. “Yesterday his parents came to console him he was going through a difficult time,” she was quoted as saying.
Doublelift is among the most well-known players of hit MOBA game “League of Legends” in the United States. His team “Team Liquid” is set to participate in the North American League Championship Series Spring Split Final in Miami on April 8.
