Simu Liu plays a one-eyed samurai in Netflix anime ‘Bright: Samurai Soul’ set in feudal Japan

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” star Simu Liu is set to voice the lead character for the English dub version of the upcoming Netflix anime film “Bright: Samurai Soul.”
Same universe: Based in the world of David Ayer’s 2017 Netflix movie “Bright,” starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton, “Bright: Samurai Soul” is set in Japan during the end of the Shogunate and the beginning of the Meiji period, according to Deadline.
- The film follows a one-eyed adventurer named Izo and an orc named Raiden who have made it their mission to get Sonya, a young elf girl, and her wand to the land of the elves in the north.
- Liu voices Izo in the movie’s English dub. Fred Mancuso plays Raiden and Yuzu Harada voices Sonya.
Who else is involved: “Bright: Samurai Soul” is directed by Kyohei Ishiguro, and Michiko Yokote wrote the script.
- Atsushi Yamagata took on character design, while ARECT animated the film using Japanese woodblock print art with 3DCG technology.
- The Japanese voice cast stars Yuki Nomura, Daisuke Hirakawa and Shion Wakayama.
