Simu Liu plays a one-eyed samurai in Netflix anime ‘Bright: Samurai Soul’ set in feudal Japan

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” star Simu Liu is set to voice the lead character for the English dub version of the upcoming Netflix anime film “Bright: Samurai Soul.”

Same universe: Based in the world of David Ayer’s 2017 Netflix movie “Bright,” starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton, “Bright: Samurai Soul” is set in Japan during the end of the Shogunate and the beginning of the Meiji period, according to Deadline.

The film follows a one-eyed adventurer named Izo and an orc named Raiden who have made it their mission to get Sonya, a young elf girl, and her wand to the land of the elves in the north.
Liu voices Izo in the movie’s English dub. Fred Mancuso plays Raiden and Yuzu Harada voices Sonya.

Who else is involved: “Bright: Samurai Soul” is directed by Kyohei Ishiguro, and Michiko Yokote wrote the script.

Atsushi Yamagata took on character design, while ARECT animated the film using Japanese woodblock print art with 3DCG technology.
The Japanese voice cast stars Yuki Nomura, Daisuke Hirakawa and Shion Wakayama.

The anime is all set to premiere on Oct. 12 on Netflix.
