Bretman Rock to release first memoir ‘You’re That Bitch’

Filipino beauty influencer Bretman Rock has announced that he is set to release his first-ever memoir.
The 24-year-old social media personality’s upcoming book titled “You’re That Bitch & Other Cute Lessons About Being Unapologetically Yourself” will officially be released on Feb. 14, 2023, according to Cosmopolitan.
“Hilarious and earnest, this collection of essays, how-tos and never-before-seen photos goes far beyond what we know of Bretman Rock from social media,” says a synopsis for the book shared by publishing house HarperCollins. “Who is Bretman Rock Sacayanan behind the screen and how did he become the original superstar influencer and today’s beloved best friend of the internet?”
The synopsis also reveals that the book will include essays that tackle Rock’s “childhood in the Philippines, his family, Filipino culture, and being a first-generation immigrant [which] helped shape him into who he is today.”
Cosmopolitan published an excerpt from the memoir in which Rock expresses how proud he is to represent both the LGBTQ-plus community and the Filipino community.
“I’m very proud of being LGBTQ+ and Filipino, so it’s an honor to be a pretty face for both underrepresented communities,” Rock wrote. “Plus, Asian Americans and Asian immigrants are increasingly facing hate and violence, so I’m passionate about helping create more positive visibility for us — especially for brown Asians — in entertainment, beauty and fashion. I want to make all of my communities proud — native, immigrant, Filipino, Hawaiian.”
Rock, who rose in popularity for his YouTube makeup tutorials, has been recognized for his work on social media with multiple awards, such as the Breakthrough Social Star award at the 2021 MTV Movie and TV Awards and a People’s Choice Beauty Influencer award.
He has also been featured on several magazine covers and music videos, as well as his own reality TV show, “MTV’s Following: Bretman Rock.” In October 2021, he became the first openly gay man to appear on the cover of Playboy.
