It’s finally time to return to the Soul Society: “Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War” will be available to stream on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney Plus internationally next week.
Announced by Viz Media on Monday, the animated conclusion to Ichigo Kurosaki’s story will finally reach screens 10 years after the original anime was canceled in 2012.
Animated by Studio Pierrot, the return of “Bleach” will cover volumes 55 to 74, the final “Thousand-Year Blood War” arc of Tite Kubo’s classic manga. “Bleach,” which ran in “Weekly Shonen Jump” from October 2001 until its conclusion in August 2016, was first adapted for television in 2004; an English dub premiered on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim in 2006.
The original voice casts will be returning, including Masakazu Morita and Johnny Yong Bosch as the Japanese and English voices for Ichigo Kurosaki, respectively. Other returning cast members include Fumiko Orikasa and Michelle Ruff as Rukia Kuchiki, Noriaki Sugiyama and Derek Stephen Prince as Uryu Ishida and Yuki Mastuoka and Stephanie Sheh as Orihime Inoue.
Cast members are not the only ones returning for the anime’s revival – Masashi Kudo and Shiro Sagisu are returning as character designer and composer, respectively. Tomohisa Taguchi is replacing Noriyuki Abe as director.
For “Bleach” fans looking to catch up on the series before the upcoming premiere, or for new viewers looking to start from the beginning, Hulu has all 366 episodes of the original anime — dubbed and subbed — available to stream right now.
“Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War” will premiere on Hulu on Oct. 10 at 11:30 EDT.
