BLACKPINK has ended their “Born Pink” world tour with a historic finale at Seoul’s Gocheok Dome.
Final stop of “Born Pink”: The four-member girl group’s concert on Sunday was marked with bittersweet tears as their yearlong world tour comes to an end after visiting 34 cities and holding 66 performances around the world. Their last performance at Gocheok Sky Dome in their home country also marks the first time female K-pop artists held a concert at the venue, South Korea’s largest indoor arena.
“It’s a very special day today,” Rosé said during the concert, according to Korea JoongAng Daily. “We are finally holding our second concert [of ‘Born Pink’] in Seoul, almost a year after we started the tour back in Seoul. I’m so happy and pleased.”
The historic tour: To celebrate the special evening, the concert’s setlist was changed with new arrangements and remixes, with BLACKPINK performing a total of 22 songs. The “Born Pink” tour has brought the girls many “first” and “most” titles, including the first K-pop girl group to host a solo concert in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the largest tour by a K-pop girl group as they welcomed more than 1.8 million concertgoers worldwide.
The members’ messages: After wrapping up their concert, the emotional members shared their feelings with the fans at the arena. The finale concert may be the group’s final official activity as a group, unless they decide to renew their exclusive contract with YG Entertainment.
“One year ago, around this time, we started [our concert] in Seoul, and one year later now, we got to wrap up the concert, so I’m happy to wrap up with good memories until the end,” Jisoo said, according to Soompi. “While performing yesterday and today, I got the thought that while performing for the past year, it is a relief no one got hurt and everyone stayed healthy. I’m grateful many BLINKs gave us strength. BLINK, BLACKPINK, and all the staff, you’ve all worked so hard. Thank you.”
“It really feels like yesterday when Jennie cried during our first concert [in 2018], so to stand during this last moment of our second world tour, years after that day, really feels bizarre,” Rosé shared, according to Korea JoongAng Daily. “While this is the end [of the tour], it feels like it will last for an eternity.”
“To Blinks, it’s been 2,596 days since we first met you guys,” Lisa said while reading through the memo she wrote on her phone. “We were able to perform at such diverse and amazing concert venues thanks to BLINKs. Thank you so much for being with us through rain or shine…Thank you BLINKs for making my 20s shine.”
“First, I want to tell the members that they’ve worked really hard,” Jennie said. “There was a lot of time spent traveling and flying, but the four of us led each other with great strength and stayed in good health, so I really want to tell my members that they’ve worked so hard…To all tour staff who worked hard and ran until the end to wrap up the finale, I know you all worked hard, so I want to spread this honor with the staff. And BLINKs, thank you for loving and cheering us on as always. We will work hard and continue to be BLACKPINK who always impresses.”
The group members concluded their concert and tour with a performance of “As If It’s Your Last,” giving a grand bow and once again thanking everyone for their successful “Born Pink” tour.
