Huge K-Pop Star Revealed to Be an Inspiration for the Joker in ‘Suicide Squad’

“Suicide Squad” raised more than a few eyebrows when it won the Oscar for best makeup. As a critically-panned film, many found it surprising that it was even recognized at the Academy Awards.
However, the award did go to a talented team comprised of Alessandro Bertolazzi, Giorgio Gregorini, and Christopher Nelson, who were all recognized for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Seriously, what would Jared Leto’s Joker be without the makeup?
According to AllKpop, the award-winning makeup team even had a famous inspiration for Joker’s look: Big Bang’s T.O.P.
An eagle-eyed fan spotted a photo of the K-Pop superstar among the various inspiration pieces for the Joker which were recently displayed at the Hair and Makeup Symposium for “Suicide Squad” at the Oscars. The artists displayed some their inspiration behind characters the DC characters and T.O.P’s mint hair can be seen among them.
T.O.P’s Joker look was on full display during the promotions for his single “Bae Bae” and the Suicide Squads’ makeup team thought the look could best fit a madman supervillain.
And now with the news of an upcoming Joker movie, perhaps we’ll see even more inspiration from T.O.P onscreen.
