Beijing Cat With The Saddest Eyes Ever Brings Nothing But Joy to the World
By Ryan General
One may find it ironic that Luhu, dubbed as the saddest-looking cat in all of the internet, can easily make anyone smile with his innate charm and adorableness.
Regardless, the 5-year-old cat from Beijing, China has become an internet celebrity due to her gloomy facade that many will find to be undeniably cute.
With an Instagram following of over 157,000, Luhu is indeed a bonafide social media star.
According to Luhu’s owner Maggie Liu, the gray American shorthair tabby is actually cheerful, very friendly and loves playing with her two other cats named Barher and Bardie.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Liu admitted that she did not expect Luhu would have thousands of fans online.
Liu said that she brought the cuddly feline with big rounded eyes home from her best friend’s house when he was 2 weeks old.
For many, it’s Luhu’s prominent melancholic eyes that have made him more endearing.
Liu explained that the gloomy look was a result of infections in his eyes that he unfortunately had when she first took him home.
“Luhu had eye infections when he was two weeks,” Liu was quoted as saying. “He got operated upon which affected his vision, which is why Luhu always opens his eyes pretty hard when he needs to look at something.”
Luhu’s inherent cuteness can easily compete with the strange appeal of Japan’s Shamo, “The World’s Angriest Cat“, Thailand’s Bone Bone, “The World’s Fluffiest Cat” and Maya, the most beautiful derpy cat on the planet.
Aside from Luhu’s Instagram account, new photos and updates can be found on his Twitter profile.
