On January 19, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium facility held a worldwide poll to name a newborn polar bear cub. Roughly 88,061 votes were collected from all over the world. The winner came out to be “Nora.”
“The name was one of four options the Zoo put to a public vote between Jan. 19 and Feb. 3.” The zoo wrote in a statement.”Nora, a combination of the cub’s parents’ names, Nanuq and Aurora, garnered the most votes followed by; Kaya, meaning “little but wise”; Sakari, meaning “sweet”; and Desna, meaning ‘boss’.”
