Asian Actresses in the New ‘Star Wars’ Movie Are Getting Their Own Action Figures

“Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi” is still a few months away, but pictures of the characters’ action figures have already surfaced online, including Rose Tico, played by Vietnamese-American actress Kelly Marie Tran.

The Force is strong with this one as Tran is, as @nerdyasians points out, the first Asian woman to play a major character in the Star Wars saga AND she gets her very own action figure. How cool is that?!

We can all thank Instagram user swrogue507, who shared a series of photos of the “The Last Jedi” toys which were reportedly discovered at a department store in Panama.

While her purpose in the new Star Wars film is being kept under wraps, Rose’s sister, Paige, a Resistance gunner played by Vietnamese actress Veronica Ngo, also received the action figure treatment:

The action figures apparently are the first batch from Hasbro, and these don’t hit the shelves until 12:01 a.m. on September 1 at the Star Wars Force Friday event, according to the Angry Asian Man blog.

Other leaked action figures from the Star Wars sequel trilogy include Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, Luke Skywalker, Kylo Ren and more.

“Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi” is set to land in theaters on December 15.
