Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan fans will be delighted to know that the two have teamed up for a Russian-Chinese fantasy adventure movie.
According to Variety, the iconic stars were part of “Viy-2,” sequel to the 2014 box-office hit based on Nikolai Gogol’s horror novella. They joined the cast led by Jason Flemyng, who played Jonathan Green.
Budgeted at $48 million, “Viy-2” is now reportedly in post-production, expected to hit the big screens early next year. It was directed by Oleg Stepchenko and produced by Alexey Petrukhin. The two wrote the screenplay with Dmitry Palcev.
Charles Dance, Christopher Fairbank and Martin Klebba were also part of the cast.
The film follows Green’s story, an 18th century English explorer, as he sets out for the Russian Far East:
“Once again he sets out for a long journey full of incredible adventures that will eventually lead him to China. The cartographer will face many breathtaking discoveries, encounter bizarre creatures, meet with Chinese princesses, and confront deadly martial-arts masters and the Dragon King.”
As per Complex, the original film, “Viy 3D,” bagged $34.6 million and became the highest-grossing (local Russian) movie of the year.
