An Isreali Cafe is Offering 50 Percent Off to Jews and Arabs Who Eat Hummus Together

An Israeli cafe owner has come up with his own positive way to promote peace between Israelis and Arabs — sit down together and share their love of hummus for a 50% discount.
Kobi Tzafrir is the owner of the Hummus Bar at the M Mall in Kfar Vitkin, located in central Israel. Tzafrir recently put up his successful advertisement on Facebook in response to growing intolerance he saw coming from both sides. His message has since gone viral.
Translated from Hebrew, Tzafrir’s Facebook post reads:
“Scared of Arabs? Scared of Jews? With us there are no Arabs, but also no Jews. With us there are people! And genuine excellent Arabic hummus! And Jewish, excellent praiseworthy falafel with free refill on every hummus, whether you’re Arabs, Jews, Christians or Indians.
Special bargain: 50% discount on hummus to a table where Arabs and Jews sit together.
*Valid Sun-Thurs”

מפחדים מערבים? מפחדים מיהודים? אצלנו אין ערבים! אבל אין גם יהודים… אצלנו יש בני אדם! וחומוס ערבי אמיתי ומעולה!…

Tzafrir told the Independent that he was surprised his ad had reached as far as London. So far, many locals have taken him up on his offer:
“Some people visit to support the idea and the restaurant. They like to visit the restaurant they heard about on Facebook.”
Tzafrir’s cafe is kosher, which also meets halal standards, and is therefore acceptable to eat at by both Jews and Arabs — so long as they are willing to eat together. Speaking to the Times of Isreal, Tzafrir added:
“If there’s anything that can bring together these peoples, it’s hummus.”
