Vcha, the six-member global girl group formed through the “America2Korea” (“A2K”) competition series by JYP Entertainment and Republic Records, has officially debuted with their singles “Girls of the Year” and “XO Call Me.”
Vcha has arrived: The group’s highly anticipated debut on Jan. 26 comes four months after the reality show wrapped back in September. With their historic arrival, they have become the first American K-pop group to officially debut under a major Korean label.
The music video for “Girls of the Year” on YouTube has so far generated 4.7 million views and thousands of comments. Earlier this month, it was announced that the group will be opening for label mates Twice at stadium shows in Las Vegas, Mexico City and São Paulo.

Forming the group: The group’s formation is the brainchild of JYP founder J.Y. Park and Republic Records founder Monte Lipman, who aimed to create the “first American artist made out of the K-pop system.” Launched in July 2023 on JYP Entertainment’s YouTube channel, the reality show saw contestants across the U.S. and Canada competing for the chance to be part of the group.

Birth of an American K-pop group: Across 22 episodes, 11 talented contestants faced rigorous challenges, showcasing their singing and dancing skills and undergoing character assessments and “star quality” evaluations.  Following the intense journey, six winners and official members of Vcha emerged: Camila, 18; Lexi, 18; Kendall, 17; Savanna, 17; KG, 16; and Kaylee, 14.
Power in diversity: Vcha members come from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds ranging from white and Latino to Black, Korean, Vietnamese and Hmong. Vcha, which means “to shine upon” in Korean (비춰), aims to illuminate and inspire fans worldwide.
Family dynamic: In a recent interview with Billboard, Vcha members provided insights into their growth reflecting on their experiences in A2K
Lexi, the group leader, acknowledged the collaborative effort within the group, emphasizing teamwork as the key to success. Camila, the eldest member, said she draws inspiration from her family dynamic to nurture a supportive atmosphere within the group.
