Taishi and Chikako From ‘Terrace House: Aloha State’ Break Up, All Hope is Lost

Two cast members who fell in love on “Terrace House: Aloha State” have officially broken up nearly a year after announcing their engagement on social media.

Chikako Fukuyama and Taishi Tamaki appeared on the Terrace House season set in Hawaii, which premiered on Netflix in November 2016.

After dating on the Netflix Original, Taishi announced his engagement to Chikako on Instagram on Sept. 25, 2018.

The couple shared a proposal video on their YouTube channel.

However, Chikako and Taishi both posted on their personal Instagram accounts on Aug. 1 that they are no longer together.

Chikako wrote in Japanese and English:

“To my wonderful Terrace house friends –

Some of you may have noticed that Taishi and I have not been making appearances together. I would like to share that Taishi and I decided to go our separate ways a few months ago. We decided to keep this news private to give both of us time to move forward.

Taishi and I are still as close as we were. We will always be best of friends.

Thanks to everyone who supported our relationship. I will never forget how you took time from your lives to send kind messages over this past year- I have genuinely appreciated the incredible support and love we have received.

Thank you again, and I cannot express how much I appreciate your support.”

To my wonderful Terrace house friends – Some of you may have noticed that Taishi and I have not been making appearances together.
